Halloween Outlook

It's looking more likely that Halloween this Wednesday will be a chilly but dry evening. Models are indicating that Wednesday will start off blustery and cold with gusty northwest winds behind an intensifying low pressure system tracking into NW Ontario. This system could bring some rainfall to southern MB Tuesday night which may even mix with some wet snow overnight before ending early Wednesday morning. The rest of the day should see cloudy and windy conditions with below normal temperatures around +3C or so. A ridge of high pressure building in by evening should bring clearing skies as well as lighter winds to the Red River valley, but temperatures will likely be near the freezing mark by then. All in all, not a bad looking evening for the trick or treaters at this point. I will post updates as we get closer to Wednesday..

  1. Oct 30th - Too bad Halloween wasn't this evening instead of tomorrow. Another beautiful day out there with temperatures up to 15C in Winnipeg as of 1 pm.. even warmer down in Morden at 19C. Things will be a lot different tomorrow with gusty NW winds bringing in much colder air and even the possibility of lake effect snow off Lakes Manitoba and Winnipeg. Things still look on track for better conditions by Halloween evening with clearing skies and diminishing winds.. but it will be cool with temperatures only around the freezing mark.

  2. Oct 31 - Gusty NW winds are picking up moisture from Lake Manitoba and producing occasional bursts of wet snowflurries over Winnipeg and surrounding areas. The good news is things should be drying out by evening as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west (nice and sunny out in Brandon) Look for clearing skies and diminishing winds this evening here in Winnipeg.

    Evening outlook:
6 pm: mainly cloudy; temp: +3C,
    winds NW 20-30 km/h
9 pm: clearing skies: temp: -1C,
    winds light
