Some rain tonight.. for some..

A narrow band of rain is developing between Brandon and Dauphin and this band is expected to spread east through the night giving areas mainly north of Winnipeg about 10 to 15 mm of rain. Hopefully this band can settle south a bit and give some much needed rain to south Winnipeg where it's been very dry over the past 4 weeks, with only 3.6 mm of rain at my site so far this month. North Winnipeg has seen more rain thanks to some heavy thunderstorm activity over the past week or so that has dropped 20 to 40 mm of rain in those areas.

  1. Once again, the south end of Winnipeg misses out on the bulk of the rain. Got 4 mm of rain in Charleswood overnight, but heavier amounts in the north end once again with 16 mm in East St Paul, 21 mm in Stonewall and a 27 mm soaking in Bird's Hill. Rainfall totals for August are now close to 60 mm over the north part of Winnipeg, while the south part has had only 7 to 15 mm, including only 7.6 mm here in Charleswood where the grass is yellow and the ground is cracking. I'm sure Mother Nature will balance things out one of these days :)
