Spring has sprung!
Beautiful day out there.. and more of the same over the next couple of days with sunshine and temperatures in the double digits. Now that we have finally lost our snowcover, that April sun will be able to heat up the land and air a lot quicker, giving us some nice springlike weather through Thursday. Things may get a little cloudier and wetter by the end of the week however as another major storm system tracks through Minnesota by Friday. This system may bring yet another round of heavy snow to portions of North Dakota and northern Minnesota by the weekend! Let's hope it doesn't edge further north!

Wednesday Apr 9.. Stratus coming at us? Satellite photos this morning show large area of stratus (low cloud)and patchy fog over SE Manitoba moving towards Winnipeg. Hopefully the sun will burn off the northern edge of the cloud bank as it approaches the city.. otherwise our nice sunny day here could end up a lot cloudier than we were expecting!
ReplyDeleteHere in Steinbach that stratus cloud came over in the morning, and didn't leave until 10 or 11a.m. I am blaming this for us only getting up to 7 or 8 degrees today. The high was 12 and I though we would easily reach that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, even here in Winnipeg where it was sunny all day, our high was only 9.7C.. mainly due to a SE wind that was tapping cool air under that stratus deck. Otherwise, we should have easily topped out at 12-13C today.
ReplyDeleteWell we ended up reaching 9, but that was horrible considering the high was 12. I thought we would get close to 15, considering yesterday we got to 13. Oh well, next week looks like we could reach 20 or higher degrees? Thoughts about that?
ReplyDeleteYeah, if the models are right, Monday and Tuesday looking like 20C possible over southern MB including Winnipeg, with above normal temperatures continuing much of next week! Pity the poor folks in northern Minnesota who have to endure yet another snowstorm Friday! (Duluth has even issued a blizzard warning for it already.. now that's confidence!)
