With dewpoints around 24-25C, that would give them humidex values around 47-48C. Sorry folks.. at least you have a nice pool to enjoy the heat with!

Too bad they didn't pick tomorrow.. 850 mb temps of 25C forecast to spread into southern MB (even higher temps of 25-30C forecast by the RGEM) so it's looking like we have a shot at 35-36C Tuesday afternoon. Early morning threat of thunderstorms as well with elevated convection riding on 850 mb jet with a good surge of low level moisture, then turning breezy hot and humid with dewpoints climbing into the 21-24C range giving humidex values around 45C by afternoon. A real steambath tomorrow.. stay cool!

Showers and thunderstorms still forecast for Wednesday, although timing of cold front may diminish threat of severe storms over RRV. Once again we have high pressure over the western Hudson Bay region feeding down dry air. Its been a stable, persistent, drought pattern for NW Ontario into parts of Manitoba while areas further south and west received drenching rains (and also higher dewpoints from soil evaporation). Rob you jinxed us with that 'no rain for 6 months' comment.. haha just kidding.

Having said that, winds have finally turned south again and that tropical air will ooze northwards. Given the dry topsoil conditions (and concrete surfaces in the city) we will likely not see the extreme dewpoints showing up in the dakotas right now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33386160.post-78327812293280371842011-07-18T14:44:41.472-05:002011-07-18T14:44:41.472-05:00New highest dewpoint in Canada in 2011... previous...New highest dewpoint in Canada in 2011... previous high I've seen this year was 25C on June 30 in Winnipeg.

Harrow, Ontario currently has a dewpoint of 25.5C (air temperature is 31.3C).

Looks like the steamy air went a little further east.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33386160.post-68005559274964055242011-07-18T14:22:01.833-05:002011-07-18T14:22:01.833-05:00Mike,
